Monster Island was the Asylum’s 2019 mockbuster and it was released in the same period as Godzilla King of the Monsters. The film is about an island with the same name as the island itself, where a monster lives.


Due to the film's low budget (equivalent to a large family meal), the filmmakers decided to focus only on a small number of people and to shoot most of the scenes Monster Island (2019) Asylum movie involving the cast's A listers during lunch. The Asylum is not a kaiju film.
